What the 100-Pound Personal Items Rule Really Means

The limit is not arbitrary and it is not the carrier being unhelpful.

Where the rule comes from

A car-hauling authority permits hauling vehicles, not household goods. Weighted-down cars also change the trailer's axle loading, which is what a scale house measures.

The practical version

Up to 100 lbs, in the trunk or below the window line, at your own risk. Nothing visible through the glass, nothing that shifts, nothing valuable.

They are not insured

Cargo liability covers the vehicle. It does not cover the golf clubs in the boot. Insure them elsewhere or ship them separately.

What gets a load refused

A packed cabin, boxes above the window line, anything hazardous, and — every year in Naples — a fully loaded car that the owner did not mention when quoting.

We arrange transport with licensed carriers on a seasonal spot market. We do not publish route prices, guarantee exact pickup or delivery dates, or claim offices in cities where we have none. Availability and pricing change with direction, season and equipment.
