A loaded carrier cannot exceed 13'6" overall. A four-inch lift on a Super Duty pushes the truck to a bottom-deck slot, and a six-inch lift can make it impossible for some trailers to accept the load at all.
Length is the quiet cost
A crew cab with an eight-foot bed is over 22 feet. On a ten-car trailer, it can consume the space of a car and a half, and the carrier prices that lost slot.
Weight is federal, not negotiable
Carriers run against a gross vehicle weight limit at every scale house. A dually diesel with a steel bumper can be 8,500 lbs — nearly double a mid-size sedan.
What to disclose up front
Lift height, tire size, bumpers, racks, camper shells and whether it runs. Every one of those is a number a carrier needs before accepting, and a load refused at the curb costs you days.
