Snowbird Move Checklist
For seasonal residents moving a vehicle between Naples and a northern home. Book 3–6 weeks ahead for October–December arrivals and March–May departures.

Six weeks out
- Fix your travel dates first; the car follows the people, not the other way around.
- Book the vehicle for arrival a day or two after your own arrival at either end.
- Confirm whether your community admits commercial carriers and what the gate requires.
- Ask your HOA about early-morning truck staging — several Naples associations restrict it.
Step 2
The week before
- Arrange a key handoff person at both ends if you are flying.
- Confirm the staging point in writing if the truck cannot reach the door.
- For a car that wintered in Florida: charge or replace the battery, check tire pressures for flat spots, look for rodent nesting.
- For a car heading south: cancel or suspend northern parking permits and check the registration expiry.
Step 3
Seasonal timing notes
- October–December southbound and March–May northbound are the two crunches; April is the worst week-for-week.
- Holiday weeks lose carrier capacity outright — plan around Thanksgiving and Christmas, not through them.
- Returning clients get priority dispatch through our preferred carrier network. Ask for it by name.
Step 4
Every move, without exception
- Turn off, bag or remove your toll transponder — SunPass, E-ZPass, I-PASS. We are not responsible for tolls incurred in transit.
- Personal items: 100 lbs maximum, trunk or below the window line, at your own risk. They are not covered by cargo insurance.
- Remove toll tags, garage remotes, EZ passes, parking permits and anything else that transmits or opens a gate.
