Hawaii Car Shipping Checklist
Hawaii is two moves in one: a mainland truck to a West Coast port, then an ocean container or roll-on/roll-off sailing. The rules at the port are stricter than anything on the road.

Paperwork the port will actually check
- Original title or a notarized lienholder authorization letter if the vehicle is financed.
- Current registration matching the name on the booking.
- Government photo ID for whoever drops the vehicle at the port.
- Notarized power of attorney if someone else is dropping it off.
Step 2
Port and vessel rules
- No personal items in the vehicle for ocean transport. This is not the 100 lb road rule — it is zero.
- Quarter tank of fuel maximum.
- Vehicle must be clean underneath; agricultural inspection rejects soil and plant material.
- No aftermarket alarm that cannot be disabled.
Step 3
Planning from Naples
- Budget 14–21 days door-to-door from Naples depending on the sailing schedule.
- Confirm which island — Oahu sailings are frequent; Maui, Kauai and Hawai'i Island add a leg.
- Book the mainland leg and the sailing together so the car is not sitting in port storage.
Step 4
Every move, without exception
- Turn off, bag or remove your toll transponder — we are not responsible for tolls incurred in transit.
- Personal items: 100 lbs max on road transport, zero for the ocean leg.
