Auto Transport Quote Checklist — Enclosed Carrier
Enclosed transport costs 40–60% more than open. These are the questions that determine whether you are actually getting what you paid for.

Verify the company first
- MC and USDOT number verified on FMCSA SAFER.
- Broker or carrier, stated plainly.
- Surety bond amount and current status.
Step 2
Verify the equipment
- Hard-sided trailer, or a soft-side 'enclosed' curtain trailer? They are not the same thing.
- Lift gate or ramps? If the car is low, insist on a lift gate and get it in writing.
- Soft-tie wheel straps, or chains? Nothing should touch suspension or bodywork.
- How many cars on the load, and what deck is yours on? The car above yours is the one that can drip.
Step 3
Verify the coverage
- Cargo liability limit on the specific carrier assigned — $1,000,000 is typical enclosed.
- Request the certificate of insurance before dispatch, not after.
- Confirm your own agreed-value policy remains in force in transit.
- Confirm that claims are filed against the carrier's policy and ask how the broker assists.
Step 4
Every move, without exception
- Turn off, bag or remove your toll transponder — SunPass, E-ZPass, I-PASS. We are not responsible for tolls incurred in transit.
- Personal items: 100 lbs maximum, trunk or below the window line, at your own risk. They are not covered by cargo insurance.
- Remove toll tags, garage remotes, EZ passes, parking permits and anything else that transmits or opens a gate.
