Shipping a Car From Naples to Minnesota

The spring return is a Naples-end problem. Thousands of vehicles leave Southwest Florida inside about six weeks, and Minnesota households are competing for the same trucks out of the same guard gates.

Timing

When Minnesota snowbirds head home

  • Northbound Minnesota loads run heaviest from late April into May, later than the Northeast return wave, because Minnesotans generally wait out the last spring cold snap.
  • March pickups out of Naples for Minnesota are usually easier to schedule than April or May, but the car then sits in a Minnesota driveway through the tail of winter.
  • Carriers heading back to the Upper Midwest in spring are frequently already full out of Tampa and Fort Myers, so a Naples pickup can take a few extra days to match.
  • Have someone in Minnesota available to receive the vehicle if you are flying home separately — a Twin Cities delivery cannot always be timed to your landing.
Route

Naples to Minnesota in the spring

Northbound loads run I-35 south to I-64/I-24, then I-75 through Georgia and Florida to Naples in reverse, roughly 1,750 miles, typically roughly 5 to 8 days in season. The return leg has a different constraint than the fall: it is not whether a truck will come to your driveway, but how many carriers are trying to load out of Naples in the same April weeks.

Early-season snow across Minnesota, Iowa and Missouri routinely adds a day or two to a southbound run in November and December. Nothing about that is unusual, and no honest carrier will promise a date through it.

Northbound pricing behaves differently from southbound because auto transport is directional. In October trucks run full toward Florida; in April that inverts, and the compressed six-week window matters as much as the raw volume.
Pickup

Getting the car out of your Naples community

Spring pickup adds a wrinkle the fall doesn't have: the car has been sitting. Start it a week before pickup, check tire pressure, wash it so you can document condition, and leave about a quarter tank. A dead battery turns a running vehicle into an inoperable one, which changes the equipment required.

Confirm gate procedure in advance and agree a staging point. April carrier traffic through Naples guardhouses is heavy, and a failed access attempt costs a driver an hour they don't have in peak season.

Delivery

Minnesota delivery markets

Minneapolis

Most pickups happen off the I-35W or I-394 corridors; downtown condo towers and alley-only addresses generally require a meet at a nearby lot.

St. Paul

Older residential streets in Highland Park, Mac-Groveland and Summit Hill are narrow with boulevard trees — a full carrier usually stages on a through street.

Edina

Country Club District streets are narrow and heavily canopied; Highway 100 and 50th Street are the practical staging corridors.

Minnetonka

Wooded lots with long private drives and low branches; carriers typically load from the street rather than the driveway.

Wayzata

Lake Minnetonka shoreline roads are narrow and winding — expect to meet the truck on a wider county road.

Plymouth

Suburban collector roads and wide cul-de-sacs; one of the easier Twin Cities pickups for a ten-car carrier.

Bloomington

Straightforward grid with excellent I-494 access, which makes it a convenient consolidation point for multi-car households.

Rochester

Off the Twin Cities cluster and closer to I-90; often paired with a Wisconsin or Iowa stop on the same load.
